over bore?

has anyone ever bored their engine more than 30 over? would you recommend it if it need it or just get another block.

I have a .040 over 390 with no overheating issues. If you're in doubt have the block sonic checked.

not in doubt about the block, just have heard people say not to bore over 30 but never hhave heard if there is a max to bore a 360.

.060 was always the safe maximum.
But with a competent machinist you might get .080 or more with a sonic check but that might compromise streetability.

A friend had a BB chevy (yeh I have some wierd friends)
It was a marine motor that froze and cracked in the water jacket on the out side.
With nothing to lose he welded it and put in Moroso's block filler and he bored it .120
As there was no coolant in the block and he only used it for mud drags he could get away with it.

This is NOT true for a Ford block.

While it is true that .060 or even .080 MIGHT be O.K., there is no way to know without a sonic check.
