Re: LIGHT TAPPING UNDERLOAD
Tapping is never good, tapping under load sounds like either a spark knock or an exhaust leak.

Re: LIGHT TAPPING UNDERLOAD
The spark knock, aka detonation is very bad for pistons. Might want to look to see if that is it, back off the timing a few degrees and see if the tapping is still there.

Friends who don't believe in timing lights are they who's houses fall down... use a timing light, dwell meter.. etc..sacramento_ford wrote:yeah i had a friend time it, he is the type who doesnt belive in using a timinig light , i get it at accelearation at bout 25mph.

Re: LIGHT TAPPING UNDERLOAD
Find a friend who believes in timing lights before you start cleaning pistons out of the oil pan...

Seriously, stop driving/running it NOW and figure out what is wrong with it.

Re: LIGHT TAPPING UNDERLOAD
YEAH im getting low oil pressure, when i got this truck , it wasnt cared for bout 2 years ago, it was gunked like crazy. i wonder if the oil pump screen is clogged. i replaced the oil filter just in case. im gonna pray the timing is off. seems like fine from 20 miles per hour then when i go higher i get the light tapping sound under load. sounds like tappets. also seems like when im driving over 20 its like im driving in a rev, i rememeber it cruising without the high rpm rev sound
