Not an expert on this but your ac should be powered by your crank pulley and have an idler or tensior pulley to to tighten the belt. If your compressor is a york, it was designed to bolt up and run horizontial or vert. You will need a new dryer, hoses and fittings and i would replace the expansion valve as well, which i think is inside your int box ( mine is a dealer odd-on).
Replace any valve stems at the charging ports and you will need a r-134a retrifit kit. Use ester or pag-100 oil in your compressor. Flush all other components with a/c flush that you can pick up at a local parts store. I would pressure test the condensor and evap core before i put it together. If you have a auto a/c specialty shop nearby they can test your compressor.
Just went through all this on my 302 and didn't have my compressor checked (ie) bearings, seals and clutch assembly. It leaks the freon out in about a week at the front seal of the compressor. You can get those compressors for around $200 new. Iv'e been told by a reliable source don't wast your money on a rebuilt unit.
Anyone jump in if i missed something.
Just a note on the old york compressors- you have to fill it to the proper level with oil before you charge it, look online for info on your set up or find someone who knows these old units it will be very helpful. I learned the hard way.
