Smoothies

Post by granitestate68 »

Well, I didn't get any kind of response in the index that I posed this question, so I'll post it in the correct forum.

I'm interested in putting those smoothie rims on my 68 long bed and want to put P295/50/15 on the rear. Does anybody know what the backspacing for those rims should be for our trucks. I'd like to go a bit skinnier up front, no P/S. What do you guys think? Yes, No, Maybe, I don't give a flying hoot or what?

Thanks,
Lee

I've got that same tire size all the way around on my 68. They are mounted on 15x10 wheels. I don't know the backspace, but I could measure if I knew how to. Do you measure from mounting surface to back of wheel lip?

Oh yeah, I'll get that switch out of my parts truck this weekend and shoot some pics for ya.

OK

I measured from mounting surface to back lip of rim and it was 3 1/2".

It clears fine in all directions. The tire is pretty much flush with the body, maybe a hair past it sticking out. The fronts stick out maybe 3/4 of an inch past the fenders. Front track is wider on these trucks.

The tread width is 12' on my tires. I think I could easily fit another 2-3 inches with no problems at stock ride height. In the back that is. Right now, I have no problems with the front either. No rubbing, nothing.

Thanks Guys,

Joe, made my night again, as soon as I saw your post I was laughing thanks.

These are the rims I was talking about. Actually the first pic is the reverse smoothie what ever the hell that means, the smoothie the second is the "normal" smoothie . Only looks like it's available in 15x8 though. 68F100 What wheels are you running?

68F100,

Meant to tell you the spacing is right on at Americanracing.com for those wheels. Thanks. Guess we know how to measure it now. :D

Ok,yeah,...I like those,Lee....How come nobody ever puts those on trucks with a chrome center hub, without the baby moons,...like in the old days when chrome reversed were the cool thing?....Or maybe with the stainless dog dishes instead of the baby moons...

I don't see any pics. :?

I read a lot of posts here that talk about pics that I don't see. Wonder what that's about.

Anyway, the wheels I have are Prime 15x10 alloys.

Here's a pic:

The pictures are attachments to posts, and you have to be logged in to see attachments.
