Color of factory Master Cylinder

Post by DuckRyder »

The now infamous 358 mile E-Bay truck had the master cylinder painted black.

Has anyone else seen one like this, I always assumed the correct color was natural.

Why do you say "infamous?"
Has the truck been proven to be a fraud? :?
I have never seen a master cylinder painted black, either. They have all been unpainted metal.
Although that's an idea.......

I see. If something sounds too good to be true, it often is.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think that while the total accumulated miles might be accurate, it's very likely that some parts have been replaced by the new owner. Things like the upside-down cowl lacing and missing hood chrome....and the painted master cylinder. I know that factory anomolies occur, but I've never known the them to paint a cast master cylinder like that, since any spilled fluid is going to break down the paint eventually anyway. I've got a few pictures of low-mileage trucks and none of them have a painted MC....of course, that doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't been replaced by a previous owner.

I agree. I'm not expert at the F-100 in particular, but by my knowledge of cars in general, that wasn't off the show room condition.
