My 68 f100 has a 351w and a c6 automatic. When I bought it the guy had just put a new flexplate and starter in it. It never has really sounded right when cranking, and now the flexplate has stripped. How can I go about finding the correct flexplate and starter? I know ford had many different flywheel/flexplate/starter combos, so I am a bit lost. I have no idea what year model the engine and trans are or what they came out of.
Thanks,
Daniel

Re: 351w flexplate woes
You might contact a local tranny shop. I had a cracked flex plate a few years ago. I took it to a shop and had them replace it. Yep, it cost about 400 clams. It would have cost a lot less if I did it, but a looking time, too. In, out, and back on the road. So, a well-spent "stimulation of the local economy." And they knew what they were doing, and had the tools for it
Back to your flex plate, call a tranny shop. The worst they can do is not answer.
