Binding steering

Post by greenbank »

Just had an "interesting" experience at the local gas-and-go. When I came to leave, the steering felt pretty stiff (power steering) and I thought "oops, time to top up the fluid."

However, when I pulled out onto the street, I felt a small "pop" and it went back to normal.

Obviously, this isn't too great, and I'm just a couple of days away from ordering all the pieces to do a complete front end rebuild. Any idea on what this might have been?

Hmmm....I'd almost say that sounded like a kingpin was binding, due to inadequate lubrication. Have they ever been greased?

How are your cab corners, some times if your cab is moving around
some the steering can bind in a turn and then free back up!

8) 8) :)
Cut ( FOUR ) pieces of an old ford truck frame that has been junked, fit them to the inside of your good frame, add weld and bolts, the leafs are now inboard, time for the (big WIDE tires)!

Oh yeah (Tubbs)
