Gear Ratio
Well I bought a detroit locker for my 9" and want to change the ring and pinion to support 36" tires. I am currently running 3.50 gears with 33's . I was told 4.56 would be good.....I thought 4.88 would be good......I very rarely have to go over 55 mph for short distances so I thought 4.88 would give me good grunt up hills...since I pull my camp trailr up the side of the mountain all summer and during deer season also it would be good offroading . Does anyone have any suggestions...Heep I know you proly know. Thanks

re: Gear Ratio
This is going on your trail rig?
As long as you don't depend on the rig on the highway I would at the least run 4.86 or even 5.13. Detriot will do you good, but I would save the cash and either put a full spool in or weld it. Why mess around is what I say.

Yep mainly offroad...it sees occasional road to get there but I do not wanna weld it or spool it due to pullin my trailer.Ihad that done to a rear once and when i pulled heavy loads i busted shafts on a dirt road.
