f100 vs. f250
I'm sure some one knows. Are the engine stands the same on the f100 as the f250? 4x4 of course. And fe engine blocks. Thanks Doug

Pretty sure. Never actually swapped them, but have gotten up close and personal with alot of both and they look the same. The rubber mounts are all the same.
Believe all the 4x4 mounts are the same from 65 to 76.

Wasn't sure about 77 and 77.5 mounts. I know the frames changed in 77 to accomodate the 351/400 engines and 460 conversion mounts for 360 trucks are different from 351/400 trucks.

re: f100 vs. f250
Yeah about half way through the year in 77 was the change from the highboy to the slightly changed lowboy frame and engine. My 77 crew is a lowboy, it's kind of nice to have it to look at the changes between the 2 style frames when swapping parts around. IMHO they just did some upgrading with the changes, PS, in frame fuel tank, and a tranny that is ready to accept a 460 with some slight motor mount changes. I'm not so big on the married transfercase and the shorter driveshaft up front for a truck that is going to be lifted, but haven't had it out wheeling yet so I can't justify and opinions yet.

I didn't mean 77.5. The frames changed for the 77 model year highboy. The front frame section is different where the frame stands bolt up. I've owned a few 77 highboys and they're not the same as 65-76 frames.

re: f100 vs. f250
So let me get this straight there is a 77 frame that is a highboy with divorced t-case and 2 1/4 in springs in the rear with 4in blocks and What does the front crossmember look like is it at an angle or straight, does it have PS? And this all being said has mounting provisions for 351/400m engines stands? Was this some half a year deal in 77, some mismatched frame untill the lowboy frames were complete? Do you have any pics, I'd be interested to see this.

re: f100 vs. f250
The FE's were dropped in 76. Ford made the 351/400's fit the highboy and the early 77 frame is what they came up with. It looks the same as the early frame, but throw a tape on the frame stands and hole locations and they are very different.
I had a frame left over from a 351 powered 77 highboy I parted out thinking I couldn't get the title for it. I set a 72 cab and clip on it and started to install a 390. Boy was I surprized when nothing would line up. I put a set of FE frame stands on the frame and still nothing lined up. I could have welded the stands to the frame or went through the huge hassle of drilling holes through the frame to mount the FE stands, but it wasn't worth the hassle to me when really I need another highboy laying around like a hole in my head. I ended up using the cab and clip on another truck and junking the frame.
The 77 highboy frames have a few other subtle differences from the early frames, but nothing else major like the motor mounts.
I often see 77 through 79 f-250 4x4's advertized for sale supposedly with 390's in them. I need to go look at one to see how they got the 390 to work or if they just aren't clued in to the fact thier truck sports an "M" engine.
