1979 f100 worth it?

Post by import600 »

its a 1979 f100 swb its got a 302 and 4 on the floor. very clean everything as far as i can tell. power steering. can't tell if the engine runs, guy says theres water in the carb. rust though is limited to surface rust on body panels. i was j/w if 3500 sounds about right? seems high only becasue that engine isn't running. he also says its "all souped up" but its obvious its a stock engine. maybe cams but absolutly nohing else. anyway let me know.

thanks

$3500 is kind of high for a vehicle of questionable mechanical condition, especially if you think he is BSing about the "all souped up". If he's lying about that, then nothing he says can be taken as truth. Just my opinion.

ya its in primer but not much rust at all other than a coupleholes in the floor board. even battery trays are solid.

Tell him to get it started before laying down any cash. You don't want to pay that much for something that may not work. It'll also let you bargin it way down if he can't get it going.

I agree and the water in the carb thing sounds way fishy. I'd want something that is rather dependable and I could drive a few hundred miles back home for $3500.

Too much.

Sounds too fishy and with water in the carb (Which should of evaporated) ,there is a possibility of the water being in the motor and it is seized or whatever else.

I agree with the no more then $1k for a non-runner....unless it is something like a old muscle car or something of rarity.

Keep your eyes open, good deals are bound to be found where you least expect them (out of newspapers and thrifty nickels and in grandma's garage's, farm sheds !!!)

Lots of cars and trucks for sale that had water in the carbs. Camille, Katrina, New Orleans, Louisiana and Mississippi. They ( the dishonest) just haul em from Southern Flood zones trying to get rid of them any place they can. JMO Charles
