radio/screen idea

Post by Zorm »

Just thinking, and it will be a little bit down the road, but has anyone seen a "pop up" screen used in the dash of our trucks?

Back in the 80's i butchered Ole Blu's radio area for a cheep aftermarket unit. I have been thinking about maybe finding a touch screen mount, or if its part of the touch screen, that would allow the screen to lie flat, like face down. Then to have it "pop" up, you would push it down a little then it would hinge up from the back (or depending how you look at it, the front, from the part closest to the windshield). I was thinking of mounting this in the stock dash speaker location. thoughts?

There is a youtube that shows a white sports custom shortbed that the owner did a complete restoration on it, that shows a modern popup radio with the popup screen. I didn't see it in a quick search, but he has the screen mounted under the dash. He has some parts inside the ash tray, and he has to remove one of his dash control knobs, but it looked pretty neat. I'll try looking some more to see if I can find it.

No, I looked for a long time trying to find this, don't know what happened to it. This guy had a great truck that he built. I would like to see that youtube again myself.
