Headers fitment

Post by jgf100 »

HI, I'm continuing my assembly of my ford 302 for my 70 F100 and am looking to buy new headers. I currently have longtube hedman headers and am looking to go with shortys this time. I saw these headers on summit racing, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/bbk-15150. Does anyone have experience installing these on a 67-72 F100? I read some people say that it will fit, the site says that it wont, and others say it will fit with some modifications. Thanks

Fox chassis headers are not the best fit for framed vehicles.
Collectors and flanges end up where the frame rails are, they flare out and back.
On these trucks you need the right side header to stay close to the block and straight down to clear the starter and bellhousing. Left side is more forgiving as the engine is offset to the passenger side. Like the Sanderson headers https://www.sandersonheaders.com/sander ... gory_id=33

Might want to check 86-95 Full Size Bronco and F-150s shorty headers for better fitment.

I do not have a number but if you look up BBK 1515, 2 different types will come up.

Just did a quick search on Sanderson’s website and saw these. https://www.sandersonheaders.com/sander ... gory_id=33

I’m currently running some of their shorties on a 351 Cleveland in my ‘72 bump with a C6. I had to do a creative pair of down pipes because I decided to use a set meant for a ‘70 Cougar/Mustang for two reasons. The 1st, they were $100 off Craigslist and 2nd, this engine isn’t staying in the truck and is going back to a ‘70 Cougar. What I’ve learned about them…very good quality, large diameter tubes, excellent fit and thick flanges.
