1970 302 idle, run, timing issues

Funny you mention that Cep62. I bought a carb rebuild kit on Friday and went threw everything. I had it idling perfectly but still would kill in gear. I left it alone till Sunday afternoon. I popped the hood and reached for the tach and noticed a red switch on the back that had 4,6,8. The switch was on 4…Shortly after switching the tach to 8 and rewiring it I was driving it around my neighborhood. I still need to adjust the carb some more but she idles at 700 rpm and doesn’t kill in gear! I appreciate all y’all’s help.
