1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating

Some now that I am cleaning I did some measurements. It looks like getting the drive train put in the frame and the cab back on will give me the space to work and the wife's car will still fit!

So no work on the truck, but have been pretty busy getting house work done. I am still planning on the Drive Train install in the next couple of weeks.

So, I was getting my parts together for installing the drivetrain. Came upon a big issue in that the two motor mounts are the same. They came in boxes with the correct part numbers, but I have two RH mounts and no LH mount.

So I went and ordered the correct one and will hopefully be picking it up Thursday.

Got the call today that my part is in at Autozone.

Picked up my correct motor mount. Pulled out the new clutch and found that it came with a Roller Pilot Bearing. Now I have to decide if I use the original Bronze Bushing or the new Roller Bearing? Trying to keep things moving I got the Bell Housing cleaned and painted.

Now I have to get the "Z" Bar and brackets cleaned up and ready for installation.

Got the clutch fork, z-bar engine mount, trans mount cross bar cleaned and painted. I found another z-bar that isn't worn so have to get that painted. I have to get my gantry crane lowered so it will fit out of the garage. Making progress with getting the drivetrain in the chassis finally.

Started building the supports to set the bed on. Slow but forward progress.

Really got to work on the truck this weekend. Pulled the Trans and T-Case out from storage. Attached the new mounts to the T-Case. One thing I still have to locate is the Bell Housing bolts, but believe they are in the cabinet. I moved the engine over so I can pull it from the stand.

Now I have to pull out the Gantry Crane and get the Engine and Trans mated.

I got the gantry crane pulled out and the engine is now hanging off of the engine stand. Now I need to pull the worn pilot bearing and install one of the new ones I have. I put the hardware for the Flywheel, Clutch and Trans into the Evapo Rust solution for cleaning. I also disassembled my old D44HD closed knuckle axle and parts are available if someone needs something short of the hubs.

Small update, clutch, bellowing and trans assembled to the engine. Pulled the bed from the frame and moved into the garage. Engine and trans installed in chassis now.

Next is to get the cab onto the chassis. Getting ready for winter work.

The cab is back on the frame finally. Now I have to get some rearranging done in the garage. I will post a bunch of pics tomorrow!
