1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating

So I got some more done today. Had to make a small patch for a bad spot on the firewall. Also got the master cylinder and steering column removed. Cleaned all the seams and re-sealed them. Now have to wait for that to dry.

Seam sealer is setting up real well. I think I may do some more painting tomorrow and Thursday.

Pulled the spare Passenger Door into the garage finally. The door is much better than the one on the truck now. It will still need some rust repairs, but they are minor compared to the door now.

It is nice to get some stuff done. Got out again today and got the garage cleaned up. I cant believe how warm it got today, had to stop I was sweating. Only 79 but very humid.

Got out into the garage tonight. Cleaned a little and started pulling together the the two heater boxes to clean and assemble one good one I hope.

Started working on the heater box rebuild. I pulled apart the first unit and the original heater core looks great. I will pressure test it in a bucket of water to check for leaks.

That is it apart. I plan on separating the second part of the housing and clean and paint everything so no more rust.

Here is the second unit, it hasn't been started.

I actually have the motor and fan in my Amazon list. I just don't know if it's worth it as this isn't going to be a daily driver?

Now I have to finish the second one. I did find a couple of cracks in the plastic/fiberglass housing. It can be applied I am sure. I am hoping the second one is better.

So the second units housing was much better. Even the flappers and their foam was good. The heater core looks like it might leak so both still need to be cleaned. Some clean, washing and sanding and this is where I am.

Great progress on your heater box. As far as an upgraded blower motor check out the link a few post up that Sargentrs shared with you. I think it will have the info that you are asking about.

I did it. Posted the link above but here it is again. Didn't actually use it, traded it for a Factory AC unit, but did test it straight to the battery. Big difference in speed and airflow.

Yes, right after I posted I went back a read your write up. Very good by the way. I think I am going to reuse my original set-up. I did seal up the housing when I re-assembled it so I believe I will have less air loss in my. Again I really appreciate your input Sargent!
