I would like to find one for my '61 to clean up the engine wiring. It has chrome everywhere else so that's why I want chrome.

re: 1 wire Alternator
I did this in 1999 on a 72 sport custom- reading my old notes and remembering that chiltons no longer does ford wiring diagrams because in their words- ford does not always follow it's own schematics- anyway hope it helps
big red wire at dash to positive side of coil
3 wire plug from harness-(red & yellow-terminate and tape off) (black w/yellow stripe- bundle w/alt. wire and red wire to ammeter positive)
black wire from neg. ammeter to battery side of solenoid
that's what i put in my notebook.

ps i remember it was a hair puller

re: 1 wire Alternator
Has anyone found a 100amp alternator that will bolt right up to our trucks? Year, make, model? I would like to put a Ford alternator in there, and not a GM or Chevy. What year did you use, what model, and what modifications (wire connectors or splices) did you have to use.
I have found several 100amp ford alternators on ebay but not sure what would work. I found one that fits the 73-79 trucks, would that be a direct replacement?
Thanks,
Patrick
