anyone else notice they pass the same green bug and old pontiac a few times on those hills? why reshoot the scene when you can just play it from different angles, right? love the movie, love the chase, but that part always messed with my mind since i always watched on tv and couldn't rewind it to prove myself right.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

It ain't perfect. Both cars seem to have 20spd tranny's. But it sure
is fun to look at. And drivin thru Frisco hills, has to be experienced
to get the full effect. JMO

I believe the Dodge Charger was a unibody setup.

Either way they had to modify the mustang so it could handle the jumps.

Nothing against the stang. I would gladly own one if I had the chance. Just was restating what I had read about the chase scene.

For those of you interested in such things, the current issue of Muscle Car magazine(at least,I think that was the title of the mag. I was reading at the grocery store before my AADD kicked in :D ) has a well detailed article about McQueen's 'stang....how it was delvered to the studio, modifications that they made as well as mods that McQueen made...even how you could build a replica today...
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!

Definitely in the top two Ford car chases of all time.

One thing always bugged me about that scene. Why is he double clutching UPSHIFTS on a fully syncro toploader?. All the way thru.

I saw a list once of the inconsitencies in that clip too, how the Mustang has a dent in it before it gets hit etc etc. Kind of cool.

The only thing that really bugged me was the shift he made (according to the soundtrack) while in the middle of a hard corner. Not something you really do too often and come back from.

Also, it's much easier to spin a car by pushing against it behind the rear wheels, not a full broadside. ;)

I think I read somewhere that when they let the Charger go on the hill -it
was being towed- it actually missed the gas station so they had to do jes'
a little bit of editing. Those pipes sure make sweet music.
