In 1971 Ford Changed the wire colors on the Turn Signal Switch (TSS) Here is the TSB for this change and the chart for the wire color differences, this will help match up the wire colors on your 70 and earlier truck with the newer switch colors.
Some 1970 vehicles built after June 30 are equipped with the 1971 design turn signal switch. The 1971 switch is different from 1970 in the following ways:
• The emergency flashers work when the switch button is pulled out.
• There is no automatic cancel for the emergency flasher switch.
• The wire color code is slightly different as indicated in the chart below.

This diagram will help with the function of the wire colors of the TSS from both the early style switch connector (67-69) to the later style (70-72).
