I am putting a Dana 70 rear in my F260, and I noticed that the D-70 does not have provisions for shocks to mount on the axle. were they an option on these? I noticed on my F260's Ford Build sheet, it lists front and rear shocks like they are an option.

re: shocks on a 1 ton truck?
As far as I know they weren't even available on a 1-ton. Makes sense if you think about it, actually. Shocks were intended to damnpen the bouncing and to keep the rear tires in contact with the road when using a soft rear spring....and with that super-stiff rear spring setup the 1-tons had, you ain't gonna have any suspension bounce! Well, not like a car or light truck, anyway. Any bouncing you'll be doing will be from the tires, not the suspension.

On my 2wd 67' F350 the shock mounts were (I pulled the D70 and putting in a D60) on the spring plates to the frame.

hey are you going to use those U-bolt plates from the D-70?? I need a set for mine!
the D-60's axle tubes are 2.5 inch and the D-70's are 3". I could trade a set for the D-60 if you need 'em!
