Fuel Drip from carb
OK, I was out doing some work on the truck today and noticed the carb was leaking fuel down onto the intake manifold. I have the 240 I6 where the carb and both manifolds sit out on the passenger side of the engine. Is this a sticking float?

I would if the floats are sticking the engine would flood or run poor.
I would say bad seals or the bore were the throttle rod passes through is wore.

Depending on what carb it is, I don't think the Motorcraft can leak while not running but the Carter might leak around the accelerator pump housing, I think.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

I think Heep70 might be right. With the engine off if I move the throttle linkage it will drip. If I let it return it will stop. It only drips when the throttle plate is moved back and forth.

re: Fuel Drip from carb
Yup, I jsut spent the last 6 months troubleshooting the same problem in my 300 I6 woth a motorcraft 1bbl.
First I rebuilt, same problem, which indiacted it wasnt the float. Then i noticed the throttle shaft was wore as suggested earlier, so i got a remn carb at Schmuck's (napa is too far away), it sucked, took it back, it sucked as well, 3rd try, it still leaked or had some other stupid problem. Finally I took the origianl carb (motorcraft) to a rebuild shop, $100 new throtle shaft bushings,, an rebuild and also I installed a fuel pressure regulator $25 set it at 3.5psi, per their recomendations.
Sometimesthe mech fuel pumps over pressurize and move fuel past the needle, especially when its warm and hte fuel tank gets pressurized.
Truck runs great now.
What a pain, but I hope this helps you.

re: Fuel Drip from carb
thats your accelorator pump. it squirts gas into the intake to account for the lag in vacuume signal when you hit the gas. its normal and actually designed to do this.
