My 68 stands a bit proud in the rear (its not jacked up just good springs). I like the way it looks but it does cause me a problem. When ever it rains, and here lately it rains every day in Georgia I get water in the bed. One leaf and I have a rolling hot tub. I can empty the bed easy enough ( see the thread about backing up and slamming the binders to clean out the bed ).
I didn't want to reinvent the wheel here so I thought I would ask if anyone else had this issue and what they did about it.
In the interim I put my ramps in the driveway and just park it up hill. This causes other issues but thats a whole new thread.

Nah I haven't had a problem with it, my truck came pre-equiped with its own drainage system. That beds got so many holes I couldn't hold water if I wanted to.

Or you can just drill a couple small holes in each front corner to allow drainage, which is what I intend to do when I get to the point on my project truck. My dad did the same thing with his '71 F250 and it always stayed dry. Whenever he'd need to haul something like seed (for the farm) he'd just slap a couple pieces of duct tape over the holes and then pull them off when he was done.

Hey!...A thread I can actually offer some input....I just washed out the bed of my truck 'cuz it was filthy,and I thought there would be "weepholes" near the front of the bed since all empty pickups lean forward...Turns out the bed floor has about a 1/8" gap between it and the bed front..Water is supposed to drain out that gap into a "trough" underneath the bed and out the predrilled holes in the trough...Every so often,I had to blast water into the corner to clean the stuck dirt out so it would drain more freely....So,maybe take an airhose to the front of your bed,Merlin,and you won't hafta drill any holes...

yes I have noticed cheby and dodgies have these from factory but remember to clean them out if you drill them probably once every 2-6 months and monthly in some places(ok,OR,GA,WA. and anywhere it rains more than 4 months out of the year!).
