Edelbrock ?
I'm gearing up to install an Edelbrock RPM intake on my 390 and noticed it does not have threaded vacuum ports for power brakes and transmission like my Weiand does. How did you guys handle this? It seems to have maybe one up front, but that's a long ugly way to run the brake hose.Any thoughts? Thanks,Calvin

Drill & tap at the location of your choosing??
Sucks having to drill/modify new stuff, but if it were easy...everyone would build these trucks

Re: Edelbrock ?
The picture at summit racing had a place for the stock vacuum block on the back #4 runner just like my stock 4V manifold.

Re: Edelbrock ?
Mine has nothing from the carb.back.Is the runner considered a vacuum source for power brakes if I drill and tap there? Also I have my vacuum advance plugged into the bottom front of my carb.would it be OK to tee into that for my transmission? Another option would be is...if it's OK to drill into the rear runner for brakes I can find a vacuum tree for both. Thanks,Calvin

Re: Edelbrock ?
yep, just tap into one of the rear runners. Remember, this is a "pipe" thread fitting. Drill & tap accordingly. Next time you're at the salvage yard, scrounge around & see what you can find for a vacuum tree. Most of the Fords had 3-5 small ports, and one large one for the power brakes.

Re: Edelbrock ?
I actually have the edelbrock performer rpm and the edelbrock carb #1407 on my 390 and I thought that you could just use the larger vacuum port off of the rear of the carb...Is that true???

Re: Edelbrock ?
Runner vacuum is a poor choice for power brakes anyway. I use the runner port on the FE RPM for PCV and run power brakes and modulator off the large port on the carb base, vacuum advance off the timed vacuum port on the carb.

Re: Edelbrock ?
The factory ran it off the #4 runner forever and a day and my PBs never had a problem even with PVC and scoop vacuum control on the same port

Yes but that really is the late factory PVC port it is the same as the manifold vacuum so no problem.

Re: Edelbrock ?
I can promise you this, If I would have tapped it, people would have noticed. That is why my truck is going to Hancocks Garage in Eloy,Az for all the body and paint as well as the suspension and anything else I don't want to tackle. This guy here charges 40 bucks an hour plus materials, I think that's a great deal...
