72 F250 fuel pump ?

Post by jokqs »

justa real fast and dumb? - just installed my rebuilt carb, upon turning over the motor fuel leakage on the canistar of the pump, got new filter and gasket for the can, installed it, now looks like fuel spray comming out of one certain area, ? is, is it cause the gasket ring is twisted or would it matter?

Yes, it would matter...and it sounds like you figured it out. The gasket was probably dry when you tried to spin the canister on, causing it to catch and twist. I'd remove the canister and make sure the gasket wasn't damaged when you tried to install it. When you go to re-install the canister and gasket, make sure the gasket surface is clean and dry and free of imperfections, and then maybe dip your finger in some oil and very a very very thin coating of oil on the gasket surface, just enough to lubricate it while the canister is being twisted on.
