I like the idea of the ties.
The added benefit i can see with that is no residue left behind from the tape.

robroy use of jackstands is great i will start doing it that way with the planks of wood, any saftey suggestions when using ramps? I already block the wheels, but more support could ease the mind

Hey Westernkansas,

As far as I know ramps are pretty secure if the wheels are blocked and if you're in gear and have the parking brake on (if you've got the front end raised).

I think the main idea is to have at least two redundant, sturdy support methods under the truck at all times (if you're going to climb under there). So if you're already using ramps you can supplement them with some carefully placed jack stands.

The planks of wood are really great because they're so much less likely to tip over!
