240ci/300ci Headers

Post by smclaren »

Hey Guys

These headers have come up on eBay. I don't think they are for 240/300ci engines, but I thought that I would check with the "brains trust".

I PM'ed the seller, he has no idea either. I reckon they may be off a 250ci x-flow which all F100's came out with in Australia post 1973 ? What do you reckon ? :?

It's not like any header I have ever seen, And the ports on a 240/300 are not round like that.

i have a 300 motor and i found some headers at a falcon junkies shop he said they would fit my 300 but they were from a 240. it seems that my intake and exhaust are connected to my carb is there a whole there that i need to buy a plate or a patch for? or will i just have to bolt up?

i can take pics if necessary

No there is no hole there. There is a chamber under the carb that the manifold heats to make a Hot Spot. What this does is helps keep the Fuel Air mix atomised better. With out it it will run like crap in cold weather.

The header will bolt up just fine. and it will run ok all summer and in mild weather. I am in Oregon and I dont have intake heat, mine runs all winter but I wish I had intake heat. The other thing to consider is that If they are long tube headers they surround your starter completely, making heat wrap necessary, and should the starter burn out you need to remove the header and intake to access the starter. My header is made by hedman and they rub the frame like mad.

I am swapping from headers to the HD 300 exhaust manifold. This way I have high flow and intake heat. But for you there is also another option. That is the factory EFI 300 Cast Iron "headers".
