Well, it hasn't been too bad up till now....but the good news (bad news?) is that the site has become so popular and getting enough traffic that it's starting to look like we've actually outgrown the typical shared-hosting plans, and we might just have to upgrade to a private server....and yes, those are expensive! However, right now it's actually the CPU usage of the forums that's the big ball-buster. I suppose it's time to do some pruning of old messages and some general housekeeping to trim down the size of the database, which will make searches a little faster and will put less of a strain on the server when conducting those searches.

With the Labor Day weekend coming up, I was hoping to spend all three days in the shop, but I suppose I'm going to have to spend one of them doing some forum housecleaning.

Keith, I've seen some that do like an archive type of deal were they take the posts that are over a year old or so and put them into archive folders that are only accessible to the members... They can search in them by going to each individual years folders and doing the search...
Don't know if this a pliable idea for you or not, or if it would help...
