Using a dodge front-end (thoughts I had)

Well I gotta 67 F-250 4x4, and don't care for either the closed knuckles or drum brakes on the D44HD.....

I have a 80's Dodge D44HD, ( and 2 standard D44's) and other than the diff being on the wrong side, it has everything I want.

Now I haven't measured, but eyeballing it the spring perches look pretty darn close......

Now could I just mount up a pass. side output NP 205 and be all set?

I also have a 4-speed out of an 84 F-150, and 3 different dodge NP 208's that could go behind it.

And the draglink (?) looks alot like the one on my Dodge, too.

So anyone try this and have a whole bunch of bad sh!t happen?

Yes you should be able to do that.
Get a dodge NP205. they mount a little different but if you get the cross member and all out of the dodge its a lot easier.
we just switched my friends chubby over to a divorced case and used all the dodge stuff it worked out great

I have a 78-79 f-350 hp60 in my 67 and it was worth every penny.
as far as the case i was talking about a divorced dodge 205 because I assumed he was running a divorced case

The 78-79 axle is by far and away the best option around. I just figured if a guy's considering putting a dodge axle under his ford he might not have the funds for an early HP 60. Atleast here in the NW, 78-79 60 fronts are quite easily worth thier weight in gold.

I tried to fit a 78-79 HP 60 under my truck after I swapped back to a stock frame and removed the big lift, but it didn't clear anything without the lift and my tires stuck out the sides. Turns out disc brake axles are 2.5" wider than drum front axles. Not a big deal with the 73 and up trucks as they're a tiny bit wider, but it's pretty noticeable on a bumpside with no lift and 34" tires. I put way too much time into building the perfect front axle for my truck, but I learned alot about ford front ends and happy to share it.

Yup, I gotta a divorced T-case....

D60's are VERY pricey, and hard to find, up this way.

Would it be easier to find a pre 79 F150 D44, weld on the spring perches, then swap the outers from the 8-lug D44HDs?

Sounds like a better plan if the knuckles are compatible. Alot less work.
